Travelling Cables in Color

In between major projects and need something to knit.  Being able to print something frees me from the twin tyranny of "fit" and "climate."  I can knit swatches and turn them into something useful, and I don't have to invest hours into a sweater that can only be worn three months out of the year, where I live.

I went into my stash yesterday morning and found this:

Lots of loose ends of tapestry yarn, acquired from estate sales, grab bags, donations from people who know I knit. I had a thought. Looked at the Aran sweater I used for the Aran pillow collection.  Traveling Cables is the pattern I want to play with.

Traveling Cables, here on a dog bed.

Kaffe Fassett showed a sweater with multi-colored cables in one of his books but his cables didn't themselves travel; they simply traded colors on every FC. Found my Barbara Walker Cable book and the pattern I wanted.

Pulled one hank out of the bags in a color with plenty of yardage, although it didn't really matter, and cast on 88 stitches.  Knit a few rows in seed stitch so the swatch won't curl.

Went into K4, P4 for one row, to set the markers.  Added color.

Stay tuned.
